Poem – Core – Suzanne Grenoble

Apple
Below scarlet skin,
White flesh within,
Black bugs in snow,
Buried cold, slow
Apple seeds
Sift in and out of sleep.
Secrets unravel in the sand of dreams
So she must listen,
All the way to the center of things,
Here is where the silence rings,
The hollow shell of discarded cores.
