The Story is You…

Psst…hey you…yeah, you…do you know the secret of storytelling…well, do you? Excellence in storytelling starts with you, the Shanachie (Storyteller).

Each story you tell, each story you hear, whether it is at home, at the store, or at work, keep it simple…oh, yeah, and listen to that little voice that lured you in at the beginning and tells you to add the following ingredients:

* 2 Parts Story - 1 part specific to you; 1 part from the your experiences

* 1 Part Time - Find it…don’t kill it, it never comes back

* A Smidgen of Belief - Children have plenty, borrow some along the way

* A Dash of Creativity - We all have it, some more than others

* Dollop of Ingenuity - Technology is big, but necessity still drives invention

* Pinch of Inspiration - Tougher to find these days, but look and keep looking

May today, and everyday, breathe excellence for you…

EIII - Storytelling Model

Cutting corners or changing your mindset midstream causes variations in your storyline. Variations cause changes in your readers, listeners, and business partners. Changes occur to their emotional associations, their knowledge connections, and their application abilities. OK, OK, that’s the boring interpretation…Where’s the creativity, the ingenuity, the inspiration…where is the story?

Think of three simple words when trying to tell a great story, Evoke, Engage, and Empower.
* Evoke emotions from your audience as quickly as possible. This allows them to associate with what you are sharing.

* Engage your listeners in the activities within your story. This connects their emotions and past knowledge to your key points and encourages a transfer into their memory.

* Empower your partners to use their new knowledge. This will grow your story and allow it to take form outside your own experiences.

Simple, huh? It is…try it in your next story…

Poem - All Too Real

To Teri, my everlasting inspiration

My soul is refreshed by your mere presence,
As goodness and purity escape from your essence.
Inward I am drawn with no other thought
Than that of the wonder and awe you have brought.
A heart that has remained dormant for so long,
Now is vibrant, beating steady and strong.
I am truly gracious for the togetherness we share,
And await new sensations when next we are near.
Think of all your happiness and a glimpse you may see,
Of what erupts constantly when you are with me.
Be still for a while and attempt to feel,
This amazing dream as it becomes all too real.

Poem - A Day

A day, a day you say,
Is not long to be away.
Sure, alright, OK.
Only to our minds does this apply.
For it becomes a challenge for you and I,
But our hearts, our hearts, may ask why.
To quell our love is not a simple task,
And, many, many questions we may ask/
For in the complete warmth we can not bask.
Our togetherness is special indeed.
As it grows closer to a need.
And, we have already established a solid creed.
Refreshing is this greatness that we share,
But, for our hearts, it is better to be near.

Poem - Everlasting

The awe and wonder we share
Astounds me always.
We grow, we bloom, we blossom…
Together.
Our bond strengthens
With every step
And intensifies incredibly
With each new inkling
Of love.
An end is not in sight,
Rather an eternal eruption
Of our own eternity
Is inevitable and everlasting.

Poem - Glimpse of Eden

Beauty so serene
Can not be sculpted;
Innocence so sanctified
Can not be sustained;
Intensity so sharp
Can not be surmounted,
Except by
The vision,
The purity,
The light,
Who somehow engulfs
My entire realm of sight.
I am without
And, she is within.
For now,
I sit satiated…
Hoping,
Praying,
Pleading,
For just one more glimpse of Eden…
