NEST OF PARADISE
Back in the depths of my early childhood
was a nest of paradise/a split level rock garden
with three levels
little tiny flowers growing up between a mountain of
rocks
Flowers budding all spring and summer
Soft tones of lavender and purple
periwinkles, violets and grape hyacinths
There were buttercups and daisies
grapevines/whose leaves my grandmother
used to pick…
and ivy and greenery
swirling all around in different shades…
littlt, little roses
the sweet scent of honeysuckles
and black-eyed susans…
I used to watch my mother
tend to it for hours
amidst the rocks and flowers
the rocks had different colors and textures
sparkling in the sun
almost blinding you
What beauty!
Bees and butterflies
all over the place
Fond memories
of an artist’s dream…
Such gentle, humble beauty…
